Managing Fleet Vehicles with GPS Tracking Devices
Almost everyone uses some form of GPS tracking. Phones, cars, planes, ships, and GPS devices serve a multitude of purposes.
For fleet managers, GPS tracking devices save you time and money. But more than this, they help keep both your drivers and vehicles safe and tracked.
Benefits of GPS Tracking Devices
- Fuel Use
With a GPS fleet vehicle tracking device, you can monitor when vehicles depart, where they are, and how fast they are going. With this information, you are equipped to dispatch the closest vehicles to desired locations, saving time and fuel.
This technology also enables you to track speeds. Higher speeds burn through money. Encourage drivers to follow the rates you set and keep them accountable with the GPS tracking device.
- Accountability
Before fleet tracking, how could you know if employees were using vehicles for personal tasks or side jobs? Besides causing extra wear and tear to your vehicles, unauthorized jobs can damage your brand’s name. With a GPS tracker installed, you hold your employees accountable.
- Insurance for Your Employees
With a tracking device, you also protect your employees from false claims. Customers may dispute the amount of time an employee worked or allege that they never showed up.You put these disputes to rest with this technology. Good employees suffer no damage to their reputation, while unprofessional employees are held accountable.
- Safety
Armed with an SOS alarm, drivers can now send out an alert during emergencies. This feature saves lives and puts both you and your employees’ minds at ease.
Two Features of the TK419 GPS Tracking Device
The TK419 GPS eelinktech.com tracking device includes many safety features for your employees and vehicles.
Two key features include:
- 4G LTE Full Network Support
This 4G LTE vehicle GPS tracker offers reliability during low data flows and connectivity. For your monitoring purposes, both the tracker itself and a server can initiate data reporting through LTE, TCP/IP, or UDP pathways as well as by a USB connection.
- Driver Identification
Knowing who is driving your vehicle is essential. The TK419 uses iButton to keep track of who is on the road and prevents unauthorized usage of vehicles. With this technology, only drivers with authorization can start the vehicle.
If a vehicle leaves a customized area without iButton authorization, the tracker alerts you. In case of theft or unauthorized use, you can remotely cut off fuel and ignition.
How Does the iButton Reader Work?
An authorized user places their iButton tag over the iButton reader. Once accepted, the employee has two minutes to start the engine. If they do not, the vehicle returns to a “restricted” state and needs verification again.
Similarly, when a driver parks the vehicle and turns off the engine, they have two minutes to turn it on again. Otherwise, they will need to use their iButton to verify their authorization for the vehicle.
Thanks to the iButton function, thefts and unauthorized use are prevented.
